John Prillaman was the son of Jacob Prillaman, Sr. (1721-1796), First Prillaman to arrive in America. Jacob came to America from Switzerland in 1747, arriving in Philadelphia on the ship "Lydia". He settled in Maryland and then migrated to southwestern Virginia. Jacob served his country as a "Patriot" during the Revolutionary War. (DAR...Jacob Prilliman, Patriotic Service, Ancester #AO93217).

John was born in 1754. His father Jacob, Sr., was a tenant farmer on one of the estates of Charles Calvert, Fifth Lord Baltimore, called "Conococheague Manor", in Washington County, Maryland. This may have been John's place of birth.

John married twice. The name of his first wife is unknown, and she was the mother of all eight of his children.
Lucy Wilkson was his second wife, and there were no children by her. Lucy was born about June, 1768 in Nelson County, Virginia and died Dec. 1, 1853 in Franklin county, Virginia, age 85 years, 6 months. John and Lucy's marriage bond was dated July 30, 1810.

.........................BURIAL

John is buried in the same cemetary as his parents Jacob Prillaman, Sr. and Waltpurgelly Prillaman, (Prillaman Family Cemetery, Callaway, Franklin County, Va.). Of Jacob Prillaman, Sr. and Waltpurgelly's five children, John was the only one to be buried with them.

His second wife Lucy Wilkson died December 1, 1853, Her burial location is unknown.

Note:..... There was a tombstone in the Prillaman Family Cemetery at Callaway where John and his parents Jacob Sr. and Waltpurgelly are buried that was inscribed F.B.P. 18 1810. It is possible that that may have been John's first wife, whose name is unknown. John married his second wife Lucy Wilkson in 1810, so perhaps his first wife died earlier in the year of 1810. The stone may not exist today, but it was listed with some of the other stones in the cemetery. John's first wife was the mother of all of his children, so descendants would probably like to know this maternal line. Hopefully, with further research her name will be discovered.
