Aaron Bushnell, b. Westbrook before the election of George Washington as First President of the United States, voted for James A. Garfield, the Twentieth President, and d. on the day he was inaugurated. He had a Captain's Commission in the War of 1812, and was later elected a Colonel, and retained the title until his death. In his younger days he engaged in house and ship building, and with Capt. Aaron Stevens built the Congregational Church. He built his last vessel when over 70 years of age, and held many offices of trust in the town, and d. of old age. During the later years of his life he resided in Madison, Conn.
