Powell A. Purkey, born Sept. 10, 1928, passed away Tuesday, May 11, 2004. Born in Morristown to Charlie and Gladys Purkey, he was an Elder in the Morristown Church of Christ until he moved to Nashville in 2002, where he was a member of Lebanon Road Church of Christ. He was employed by American Enka, Ross Meter Service and Woodcraft, Inc.

He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Mary Nell; daughter, Carole; son and daughter-in-law Mike and Judy, all of Nashville; two sisters, Edith Johns and June Thomason of Morristown; one brother Charles of San Diego, Calif; and many nieces and mephews. His beloved grandson Scott Purkey, his parents Charlie and Gladys Purkey, two sisters Ruth Thompson and Mary Combs, and two brothers Joe and Roy preceded him in death.

Visitation will be 4:30 - 6:45 pm Thursday, May 13 at the Morristown Church of Christ, Highway 11E. Funeral Services will be held immediatley following visitation. Committal and burial will be 10 am Friday, May 14 in Bethesday Cemetery.
