Helen (Panaro) Henderson passed away peacefully on July 7, 2011, at her daughter's house in Seattle, Wash. after a brief bout of pneumonia.
She was born Feb. 9, 1921 in St. Benedict, Pa. to Michael and Nellie Panaro.
When she was a young girl her family moved to Florence, where she spent her younger years.
Helen graduated from Bordentown High School in 1939.
She married Robert Henderson in 1942 and they later moved to Medford Lakes.
In 1963, she pursued a dream and moved to Honolulu, Hawaii where she lived until she returned to Florence in 1982. In 2008 she moved to Seattle to be closer to her daughter.
Helen is preceded in death by her parents and her brothers, Robert Panaro and Daniel Panaro.
She is survived by her three children: Michael Henderson (Joan) of Murrells Inlet, S.C., Robyn (Henderson) Alton of Cambridge, England and Janet Henderson of Seattle; brothers: Alvin Panaro (Sue), David Panaro (Audrey), Edward Panaro (Janet); sisters: Lois Pieretti (Orlando), Betty Jean Perino (Anthony); two grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and many, many nieces and nephews.
Helen was a very friendly, social and caring person. She loved history, people of all cultures and was in many ways a woman ahead of her time.
She was a lifetime member of the Florence Historical Society and the Florence Garden Club.
She will be dearly missed by many friends and all of her family.
No memorial service is planned at this time.
