In demand as a character actor, she appeared in the films "The Nun's Story" (1959), "To Kill a Mockingbird" (1962), "Up the Down Staircase) "1967), "Charly" (1968), "Hang 'em High" (1968), "Midnight Cowboy" (1969) and "The Reivers" (1969). For television, she won an Emmy Award for her performance in the Hallmark production of "Little Moon of Alban" (1964).
