AMELIA HIXON -JACKSON Age 81, died on Friday, August 29, 2003 in Merrillville, IN, after a courageous battle with alzheimers disease. She was born on October 5, 1921, in Columbus, GA she was the fourth of six children. She married the late Willie C. Jackson. Amelia graduated from Morris-Brown College with an undergraduate degree and went on to graduate from Indiana University with her Masters degree. She was member of the Officer's Wives Club, Coronets, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. and a member of St. Luke A.M.E. Church in East Chicago. She was a retired school teacher from Carrie Gosch Elementary School. Survived by her children: Amelia, William, Susette; grandchildren, Twana, Denard, Tashima, Davanta and Janae; and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 5, 2003, 11 a.m. at St. Luke A.M.E. Church, 3543 Block Ave., East Chicago, IN. Interment Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery, Hobart.
