He is survived by wife Alice; sons Manuel III, John, Robert, Manuel D. I and Peter; daughters Linda Pennywell, Judy Mercado, Monalisa Santos, Alice Smith, Virginia Santana and Cynthia Kisamore; 34 grandchildren; and 20 great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Visitation: 9 a.m. Wednesday at Ballard Family Mortuary, Hilo. Services: 10:30 a.m. Burial at noon at Alae Cemetery.
