My Dad was born in Pickens County SC. HE lived in Plains Ga for a little while and moved to Atlanta where he was an Atlanta police officer and detective during the 1930's and 1940's. His first marriage was to Carmie Lucille Stapleton in 1925, who had Wayne Sutherland 1929 and Jacquelyn Sutherland 1934. He married my Mom Dora Elizabeth Howard in 1944, who had Ronald Lee Sutherland 1946, a set of twins that she lost between Ron and I, Annette 1955 and Keith 1956 who was a twin. She lost the little girl. My Dad found out he had lung cancer in 1959 which took his life in 1961. My Mom said he really suffered for two years. He was at what was known as the Cancer Home in Atlanta (Our Lady Of Perpetual Help)in his last days. My cousins tell me my Dad was a good man and would give you the shirt off his back if you needed it. He had electrical skills and after a storm he would go around the neighborhood trying to get electricity on for the neighbors. I remember him being kind hearted and loving. I wish I would of had more time with him.
