Ethel Burilla Abernathy was the daughter of Elihu Tinsley Abernathy and Nancy Elizabeth Young.
Ethel's first marriage was David Lee Moss. They had two daughters.
She then married Linford Abernathy. They had three children. Two of the children (sons) died as infants, but the daughter went on to have a large family.
Ethel was my great grandmother. Her grandchildren and other great grandchildren all called her Mammy.

Mrs. Ethel A. Abernathy, 86, of Center Road, died in a local nursing home Monday night after a long illness. She was a member of Center Baptist Church and was the widow of the late L.A. Abernathy.
Survivors include two daughters; Mrs. Zoe-Miller Berry, Chattanooga; and Mrs. Hazel Howell, Cartersville; two sisters, Mrs. Jewell Leekstra, Rome; and Mrs. Julie Gentry, Pine Log; nine grandchildren.
Funeral was at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Center Baptist Church with the Rev. Gene Hubbard and the Rev. Roland Lee officiating. Interment was in the old Macedonia Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Odie, Lucius and James Pope; Odie, Melvin and Buck Abernathy.
