Born in Sylacauga, Ala., he moved to Winter Park from there in 1924 and played baseball for Winter Park High, Rollins College & Stetson University. He was an Army veteran of World War II and was a territorial manager for Signa Insurance as well as a member of the 50 Year Club of Winter Park. Survivors: wife, Julie Holdorf Talton; son, Tim Talton, Winter Park; daughter, Tina Polinek, Ocala; stepson, William Archer Jr., Winter Park; stepdaughters, Susan Titour, Kathy Morgan, both of Winter Park; sister, Verbie Carroll, Hendersonville, N.C.; six grandchildren.
