Christian Julius Holdorf (CJ) was born on October 14, 1884 in Rock Island, Illinois to Theodore Holdorf and Mary Jane Schafer.

In 1907, he married Nettie Cartstedt but she passed away at the age of 22 in 1909. On March 13, 1913, he married Grace Trueman Bowman in Winter Park, Florida and they had a daughter Julie. Grace and CJ parted ways and on September 16, 1923 he married Elizabeth Adele Burlingame in Cleveland, Ohio. CJ and Elizabeth settled in Winter Park, Florida where they had three children, Theodore, Benjamin & Julie Holdorf.

CJ and Elizabeth were very active in the Winter Park community where they owned a good amount of land which they later used to build the Killarney Tavern located off Fairbanks and Formosa on Lake Killarney. He was a co-Owner of Winter Park Lumber Co, an electrician, ran an amateur radio station (4XK), a member of the Winter Park Home Guard

On February 13, 1941, CJ passed away and while he is gone, his name and memory live on with those who loved him.

Mr. Holdorf was a resident of the Killarney Estates area of Winter Park when he died at Florida Sanitarium, where he had been two weeks of bronchopneumonia and influenza.

His wife was Elizabeth.

His parents were Theo Holdorf, of Germany and Mary Shaffer.

Mr. Chris J. Holdorf, formerly of Rock Island, Ill., but a resident of Florida for more than 30 years, and prominent in the citrus industry, died at a local hospital Thursday afternoon after a brief illness. Mr. Holdorf resided on Killarney Drive.

He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Elizabeth Holdorf and three children, Ted, Julie and Ben. One sister, Mrs. J.B. Jones, of Moline, Ill, also survives.

Funeral services will be held Sunday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock at the Carey Hand Chapel. Interment will follow in Palm Cemetery in Winter Park.
