Joe was born July 6, 1929, in Lincoln County, to the late Clarence and Annie Damron Cashion. Joe worked for Bell South for 31 years and was a member of the Telephone Pioneers Workers of America. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force and the Golden Gloves State Boxing Champion. Joe was a faithful member of the Park City Baptist Church where he served as deacon and past chairman of the deacons and a member of the long-range planning committee. He was also a significant part of the church fish fry and was known for his hushpuppies. Joe passed away January 21, 2022, at NHC Healthcare in Lewisburg.
He is survived by three sons, ten grandchildren, thirteen great-grandchildren, sister-in-law and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Ann Graham Cashion; sisters Marjorie Gray and Hazel Dickey; and brothers, Max Cashion, and Horace Cashion.
