Mr. Burkett, a farmer, died Friday morning at McNairy County General Hospital in Selmer after a short illness.
He was a Ramer native, a member of Mount Olive Missionary Baptist Church and a veteran of the Korean War.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Burkett; four daughters, Mrs. Bonnie Davis of San Juan, Puerto Rico, Miss Quinn Burkett of Washington, D.C., Mrs. Mary Anita Vicente of Riverside, Calif., and Miss Angela Patricia Burkett of Ramer; four sons, Norman Ray Burkett, Lyndol Jerome Burkett and Edward Kenneth Burkett, all of Ramer, and Eskol G. Burkett Jr. of San Diego; his father Andy Burkett of Ramer; three brothers, Lloyd Burkett, Cottrey Burkett and Corteylou Burkett, all of New York City; three sisters, Mrs. Vedolpu Stovall of New York City, Mrs. Gladys Fay Luster of Kansas City, Kan., and Mrs. Hattie Bell Stackens of Selmer; and three grandchildren.
