She was the daughter of Dennis and Patsy Sewell Durden. She was married to Jimmie Lee Simpson and to their union four children were born Orenthal James, Melvin Leon, Shirley and Carmelita Simpson.

Mrs. Simpson, was found dead in her home of natural causes. She was 80. Simpson was a longtime resident of the city's Bayview District.

Eunice Simpson, a former nurse's aide at San Francisco General Hospital, raised her four children in the city's Potrero Hill housing projects, a cluster of apartments that overlook the old shipyards on San Francisco Bay.

Eunice Simpson was plagued by arthritis and had joint replacement surgery, making it difficult for her to walk. She appeared at her son's trial in a wheelchair.

In a moment of high drama at the trial, Mrs. Simpson left her wheelchair and was helped into the witness box. Then, as her son smiled adoringly, she gave the jury an account of her hard life as a divorced mother of four.

She has five grandchildren Arnelle, Jason, Aaren (preceeds her in death) Sydney and Justin.

Wife of Jimmy L. Simpson, TEC4 US ARMY, WORLD WAR II.

Eunice and Jimmy are buried together, they share the headstone - Jimmy on the front, Eunice on the back.
