THANK YOU for visiting :)
And thank you to FindAGraver Richard Rodriguez, who added the Google Earth photo of the area!
Fritz Abegg was an avid outdoorsman, photographer, naturalist and Boy Scout leader. He was Scoutmaster of Troop 6, Perth Amboy, New Jersey, Raritan Council. Fritz was a Vigil member of the Order of the Arrow.
Fritz was the son of Albert and Anna Strube Abegg. He was born in Germany but many records show him as a citizen of Switzerland. (We had originally thought that he was probably named after his father Albert's oldest brother Friedrich, who died in 1852 at the age of 11, when Albert was only 5. However, the birth certificate states only Fritz, not Friedrich.)
He married Ella Fetz (1880-1967). Ella was born in Switzerland and was the daughter of Carl and Anna Bergmann Fetz. Fritz received his PhD in chemistry from the University of Basle in Switzerland in 1905.
Fritz and Ella had 3 children: Klaus (1908-1994), Eva (1911-?), and Roland (1914-2000).
Fritz was a metallurgist in Germany and England, and an engineer in the chemical industry after coming to the United States in 1912.
He worked for a while for Du Pont.
While I did not know Fritz because he was before my time, I did know his son Klaus, my stepfather's father...Klaus was a kind and very interesting man who was a great photographer, artist, orchid grower, and butterfly collector...I think he was probably very much like his father.
