Melvin E. Craft, age 81 of Demotte, passed away Sunday, March 21, 2010 at St. Anthony Hospice in Crown Point. He was born in Arkansas in 1928. Melvin served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He retired from Inland Steel with 25 years of service. Melvin leaves to mourn his passing his loving wife of 36 years, Faye (nee Mock); his devoted children: Jerry (Wanda) Craft, Harold (Rose) Craft, Mark (Rose) Craft, Ken (Kathy Fahey) Gilbert, David (Leslie) Gilbert, Mike (Jennifer) Gilbert, Pam (Eli) Santana, Lisa (Dan Boldoun) Hughes and Paula (Mark) Morton; 29 grandchildren; and 25 great grandchildren; fond brother of Robert (Aiko) Craft; and brother-in- law to Betty Craft. He was preceded in death by his parents: Fredrick and Stella Craft; brother, Edsel; and sister, Alley Jackson. Family and friends may gather Tuesday, March 23, 2010 from 3:00-8:00 p.m. at the Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 8178 Cline Ave., Schererville, IN. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, March 24, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens.
