Akorfa "Koko" Ymela Jackson left this life to live abundantly in God's kingdom on December 26, 2009. She was born November 4, 1976 in Missoula, Montana to Thaddis and JoeAnn Jackson. Koko was the third of eight children and her generous and nuturing personality brought her many friends and close relationships. Koko was a proud graduate of Roosevelt High School's class of 1996, and she attended Ivy Tech Community College where she studied Culinary Arts. She was a great cook and aspired to own a catering business. Koko truly believed that the way to a person's heart was through their stomach. She loved to spend time with her family and friends and she never met a stranger. Koko was friendly and outgoing. She is survived by her mother and father, Thaddis and JoeAnn Jackson of Gary, IN; siblings, Nojena Johnson, Rasheedah Jackson, Yaminah Jackson, Kyla Jackson of Indiana, Sithd' dare' Jones (Charles) of Maryland, Zalika Jackson of Texas, and Thaddis Jackson Jr. of Tinian; grandmothers, Ella Bell, Mary Jackson and Margaret Bell; god-brother, Devonte Corey; dear friend, Trina Peterson; and a host of relatives and friends. Koko was preceded in death by her son, Samuel; grandfathers, Joe Bell Sr. and Herbert Jackson, Sr. Visitation will be held on Monday, January 4, 2010 from 9 to 11:00 a.m. Family hour 10-11:00 a.m. at the church. Funeral service at 11:00 a.m. at Embassies of Christ Kingdom Ministries, 4285 Cleveland Street. Interment Evergreen Memorial Park, Hobart, IN.
