On a July day in 1925 Sherman and his family took an outing to the swimming hole by the old arch bridge aon Dickerson creek.
While there Sherman drown .
With in three weeks of his death his wife Viola died .
Story goes she died of a broken heart.
Their two children Kenneth and virgnia were put into the care of Alferd and Bessie Neve of Greenville.
