While I did not get to meet my Great Grandfather Thomas, I will never forget a photo of him, my Great Grandma Gertie, her twin sister Bertie along with her Husband, James Haskell Clevenger that was on my Grandma Ruby's shelf. He looked very much like my Daddy, tall, thin, with dark hair and warm skin color and had very serious, piercing eyes. I can only imagine having 8 children could make you look rather serious!
Thomas married Gertrude Maynor on September 7, 1913, in Rhea County, Tennessee. They had eight children in 18 years: Ruby Gordon Rose, Roland Joseph Rose, Tommie June Rose, Kate Annise Rose, Joe Rose, Mary Jean Rose, Marion Albert Rose and Leona Nancy Rose.
Knowing how loving and sweet many of his Children and Grandchildren are, I would be willing to guess he was a good man who loved his family.
