Carol Jean Sundem Anderson, 61 of Sioux Falls, SD, passed away with family at her side on Thursday, January 12, 2012, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Carol Jean Sundem, daughter of Roy and Lorraine (DePorter) Sundem, was born on May 24, 1950, in Sioux Falls, SD. She attended school in Valley Springs and later at Brandon Valley High School. She then went to work as a nursing assistant at the Brandon Valley Manor.
Carol was united in marriage with Dean Peterson in 1969. Carol continued at Brandon Valley Manor and later worked at the VFW.
Carol was united in marriage with Steve Anderson in April of 1980. In 1987, Carol began at Mom & Dad's Nursing Home in Sioux Falls, SD, as a health care provider. She later worked at the Garretson Food Center and at the Hy Vee locations on 10th Street and 26th Street in Sioux Falls, SD, until ill health prevented her from continuing.
Carol was a hard worker that made sure to provide for her children and family. She made sure to call them daily and loved time spent with the grandchildren. She was a genuine people person and a loyal friend. She will be missed at the bakery and deli at Hy Vee, and by her cat Bella.

Visitation will begin at 2 pm with the family present from 5 to 7 pm on Tuesday, January 17, 2012, at Miller Funeral Home, 13th & Main. A funeral service will be held at 1 pm on Wednesday, January 18, 2012, at the Valley Springs First Lutheran Church with burial at 1 pm Thursday, at the Bethlehem Lutheran Cemetery in Hills, MN.
